About me I am a Texas native, born and bred in Denton County. My husband Jim and I were married in 1979, and have been members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 34 years. We have raised four strapping boys, Josh, Jacob, Jozey and Jason. For the first 10 years of our marriage, I worked as an X-ray tech and was on the first Cardiac Cath. Team at Denton Regional Medical Center.
My love for the arts has always been very strong, so I decided to pursue a degree in art from UNT with a focus in interior design. I worked as a designer for a couple of design firms and then for my husband’s custom cabinet business for the next 20 years. During that time I was also a freelance artist mostly doing commissioned mural painting.
I am an avid volunteer. I have spent over 15 years volunteering in Scouting as a den leader, Cub Master, and Assistant Scout Master. During that time I received awards which include the
District Award of Merit, the
Bronze Pelican, and the
St George Award for my work with the Catholic Scout’s religious emblem program. Along with Scouting, my volunteer work with the Denton High School theater program landing me a nomination for best scenic design for a high school musical. I also volunteered for 12 years at ICCS while my younger boys attended there.
I love nature and the outdoors. Gardening is a one of my favorite hobbies. I love to teach the students about horticulture and sustainability in the community. This year we will continue to work our school garden and send the produce to Our Daily Bread soup kitchen. We will also be adding curriculum on sustainability to continue our pursuit in creating a green school.
Teaching Philosophy I believe there are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents. Do everything for the greater glory of God. Take care of the beautiful world that God has placed in our charge.
