| Curriculum
The curriculum of Immaculate Conception Catholic School includes all subjects required by the State of Texas and Texas Catholic Conference Education Department. Instruction is in accord with Curriculum Guides provided by the Diocese of Fort Worth. To address the multidimensional needs of the students, ICCS focuses on the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of the child. Developmentally appropriate teaching strategies are used in the curriculum areas of religion, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, and physical education. A hands-on approach fosters greater involvement and motivation in all areas of study, as do a variety of student/teacher interactions through individual, small group, and larger group activities. Religion Formation is modeled not only in daily classroom instruction, but by the family as well. Parents, as the primary teachers of the faith, are expected to nurture their child's growth in the Church and to support their own ongoing spiritual education. Parents of second graders receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist are expected to attend sacramental preparation classes under the guidance of the D.R.E of the parish where they will receive the sacraments. Standardized Testing The Diocese of Ft. Worth has scheduled standardized tests to be administered in the fall semester as a diagnostic tool. The classroom teacher is better able to address the needs of the individual student, and the class as a whole, when testing results are used for both diagnostic and achievement measurements. Results will be shared with the parent as soon as they are available. During this same week, ACRE Assessment of Catholic Religion Education will be administered to fifth graders. Grade Scale The grading scale used
in the Diocese of Ft. Worth is as follows: |
|
| A | 94-100 |
| B | 86-93 |
| C | 76-85 |
| D | 70-75 |
| F | Below 70 |
